Why personalization and follow-up matter in corneal reshaping

Personalization connects an optical approach with the characteristics of each eye. Assessment of corneal reshaping can bring together topography, refraction, visual acuity, ocular-surface status and the patient's functional goals.
From background research to clinical questions
Orthokeratology trials offer useful follow-up methods. Their pediatric populations and myopia-control endpoints differ from adult presbyopia. Their contribution here is methodological; their efficacy percentages do not transfer to TVT.
Assess TVT using its own evidence
The Yolia report published in 2022 presents prospective near-vision follow-up in adults. It provides TVT-specific evidence with company funding disclosed, allowing discussion of measured outcomes separately from research on other technologies.
Complementary measures
Recording binocular uncorrected near acuity in logMAR and distance vision at defined visits supports comparison over time. Spectacle dependence, comfort, adherence and adverse events should also be recorded: visual acuity gains and independence from glasses describe different aspects.
The clinical opportunity lies in personalized assessment and documented follow-up, with expectations discussed before treatment.
